Inspection of lands acquired by Sate Highways for link roads (Joalrpet)

Vellore Collector R. Nanthagopal on Tuesday inspected the lands to be acquired for laying of link roads by the State Highways (SH) (Projects Division) on both sides of the railway portion of the road over bridge (ROB) which has been constructed above the railway level crossing at Parsampettai on the Tirupattur-Natrampalli Road in Jolarpet panchayat union.

The ROB has been a long-pending demand of the people in and around Jolarpet. While the railways have completed the construction of the portion of the bridge above the railway track, the SH has to construct 700-metre-long link roads on both sides of the ROB at a cost of Rs.21.57 crores. The SH is planning to acquire 13,700 square metres of patta lands required for the project.

The Collector said in a release that a sum of Rs.15 crores has been allotted for the construction of the link roads and Rs. Five crores for land acquisition.

A sum of Rs.1.60 crores has been deposited by the state government in the bank for the disbursement of monetary compensation to the land owners for the land to be acquired from them.

The ROB would be completed and brought to public use by March 2015.
