Knowledge Imputing Mission – itinerary of Science Express

The Science Express aims to create awareness of the biodiversity of India, climate change and similar issues among various sections of the society, particularly students. So far, 2 phases have been successfully conducted.

 The phase-III of the Science Express was flagged off from Delhi Safdarjung Railway Station on July 28, 2014.

 The Science Express chugged into Jolarpet Railway Station on Friday for a three-day halt till November 16. On the first day, a total of 5,217 persons, including students, visited the science exhibition, on the train, that focussed on biodiversity and climate change.

 On Friday, 2,706 students from 22 schools visited the Science Express

 The Union Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change has put up exhibition in eight coaches showcasing the biodiversity spread across the bio-geographical zones of India such as Trans-Himalaya and Himalaya, Gangetic plain, North East India, Western Ghats, Indian Deserts, Semi-Arid Zone, Deccan Peninsula, Coasts and Islands.

 In the remaining rake, the Department of Science and Technology has put up exhibition on themes such as climate change, biodiversity and water, sustainable environment and energy conservation. A kid zone has been set up for children to indulge in fun-filled activities, games and puzzles in science, mathematics and environment.

 The train will next leave for Salem Town station.
