‘Mayana Kollai’ Thiruvizha performed in Arkonam! Excitement as some devotees had snakes on their necks!

‘Mayak kollai’ thiruvizha (festival)  was celebrated in the Sri Angala Parameswari Amman Temple at Palanapettai, Arkonam. Devotees adorning various forms such as Kali, Katteri, etc, came to the temple and carried out their penance.

Some people had lemons pinned to their bodies. Some others dragged aotos and cars with the God’s picture with ropes pinned to their bodies. There was also an instance of 5 devotees hanging on to one vhicle which was linked to ropes pinned on their bodies. Some devotees even carried live snakes adorning their necks!

Later, special Pooja was performed on the Goddess Angala Paramweswari Amman. The deity was taken on procession from the God’s temple through Palanipettai Mosur Road offerding Darshan to the devotees. Devotees offered different items like salt, eggplants, drumsticks, sundal, and cash while offering their prayers.

Over thousands of devtoees had gathered from areas such asArkonam, Kanchipuiram, Vellore, Mosur, Tharkolam, Puliyamangalam, Kumbinipettai and opther neighbourhoods.

Arrangements for distribution of water and food had been made at several locations from Arcot to Ambedkar Nagar.

Police has made the necessary security arrangements.
