Mayor and Commissioner personally inspect the progress on Median Wall built at Vellore Langu Bazaar

velloreVellore city Mayor Ms. Karthiyayini and Commissioner Ms. Janaki visited the site of the construction of median wall being built at Langu Bazaar in Vellore to monitor the progress.

The mayor informed that an alternative arrangement will be made for the pavement shops in the area.

There are several shops across both sides of Vellore Kripananda Variar Road and Langu Bazaar. This leads to heavy crowd of customers throughout the day causing frequent traffic jams.

In order to reduce the traffic, a median wall is being constructed in the middle of the road.

However, the public and traders indulged in a protest by blocking the road against this construction claiming the wall would prevent the people visiting Aha bazaar and Rottikkara Street and demanded that gaps must be provided along the median wall to enable this.

The protest was withdrawn after the arrival of Deputy Police Superintendent Panneerselvam, Tashildar Balakrishnan, and other officials on the spot and their assurance that the grievances would be addressed.

Mayor Ms. Karthiyayini and Commissioner Ms. Janaki undertook a personal visit to the median wall construction spot to inspect the progress.

All Traders Association President Mr. Gnanavelu appealed that provisionshould be made for the public to visit Aha Bazaar and Rottikkara street.

Mayor Ms. Karthiyayini informed that a gap of 10’ would be provided in the median wall as requested by the traders. However, a 1’ block will be built to prevent vehicles entering this gap and allowing only public. As the road ends in front of Rottikkara street,  median wall is not being constructed at that point.

Alternative arrangements will be made for all existing pavement shops. However, if they still continue in the same place, the shops will be removed.

Deputy Mayor Mr. Chockalingam, Engineer Mr. Balasubramnaian. Deuty collector, Mr. Venkatesan, traders, and public were present during inspection.
