Vellore district collector Mr. R Nandhagopal informed that the distribution of Mettur drinking water in Vellore city will commence from 2nd week of April.
It is expected that the drinking water will reach Jolarpettai on Thursday, Madhanur on Friday morning, and Vellore early morning on Saturday.
After observing water reaching Jolarpettai, the collector informed that the project is implemented at a cost of Rs. 1295 Crores. The distribution will cover Vellore city and 5 city administrations, and 944 village residential areas to supply 215million litres of drinking water every day. Pipelines have been laid. Test runs are being conducted for 2 weeks.
Drinking water distribution is set to start from 2nd week of April.
