‘Our committee is eager to reopen the closed Nokia factory in Sriperumbudur. The committee has requested the state government to inform the activities to be contributed by it. The committee is continuing negotiations with the state government. Nokia has not been included in this stage. Nokia would be included later after crystallising the positive responses of state and central governments. We are confident of positive results.
Tamil Nadu state government has been quite keen in industrial development. It has been hugely successful in getting several big companies to start operations here. Currently, we are holding talks related to policy. We will inform the outcome later.
We have started full-fledged activities to restart Nokia plant in Sriperumbudur. Nokia plays a significant role in this effort. If successful, we would complete 35% of our mission. Tamil Nadu government will provide good job opportunities.
We have been compiling and recommending the central government on the various comments made by different state government.’
