Shortage of the passport booklet has led to long wait for the passport applicants.The booklets are printed at the India Security Press in Nasik and distributed.
The printing of passport booklets has been stopped due to shortage of laminate paper over the last 2 weeks.
1,00,000 applications in Kolkata, 40,000 in Delhi, and 30,000 in Lucknow are kept pending.
Shortage has been reported from Mumbai, Bengaluru, Pune, Ahmedabad, Andhra Pradesh, and Kerala.
Officials at Chennai informed that there is a stock of 20,000 booklets, there is no shortage. Porogress is not affected. Generally, other reasons such as getting appointment with Passport authorities will cause delay.However, this time, the long delay is due to the shortage of booklet.
Only the applications received on Tatkal are processed immediately.
The waiting applicants have demanded that the shortage should be attended and passport to be released quickly.
