Police Superintendent Warning: Do not sell low quality helmets!!

Vellore district Police Superintendent Ms. Senthilkumari informed that sever action will be taken on those who sell low quality helmets.

The government has ordered that all 2 wheeler drivers including the pillion riders must wear helmets from 1st July.

In order to create awareness among the public about this new order, awareness programmes including processions were conducted throughout Vellore District by the department of police.

A procession of motorbikes with the riders wearing helmets was organised near the Gandhi statue on behalf of the Vellore circle traffic office and the Vellore district police department.

Vellore district collector Mr. R. Nandhagopal and Police Superintendent Ms Senthilkumari flagged off the procession. Then, they distributed awareness leaflets to the public.

Traffic law & order armed police, Police drivers training association members, district 2-wheeler sales shop employees and 400 public participated wearing helmets.

The procession started from the Gandhi statue and moved vis Makkan signal, Old Bypass Road, and Katpadi Road and reached the old bus terminus.

Collector Nandhagopal addressed the gathering:

In order to prevent loss of lives involving 20wheeler accidents, everyone must wear helmets as a life-saving device.

Awareness about his among the public is now being conducted. Hence, it is compulsory for the public to wear helmets and undertake safe riding/journeys.

Police Superintendent Ms. Senthilkumari also addressed the gathering:

All 20wheeler-riders & the pillion riders including women must wear helmets. It is not compulsory for children.

Awareness processions are in full swing, Awareness programmes are conducted daily for the school & college students.

Stringent action will be taken on pavement shops & street/road shops selling low quality helmets.

All local concerned officials including public relations participated.
