Postal Department: Only 1 Week left to avail Age concession to Join ‘Selvamagal’ Saving Scheme

The Postal Department has appealed to the public prospective customers to remind that there is only one week left to avail the recent concession given on the age limit for joining the ‘Selvamagal’ Savings Scheme.

A brief on the press bulletin issued by Chennai Postal Zone Head Mr. Mervyn Aexander:

‘Sukanya Samridhi Account’, more popularly known as ‘Selvamagal Savings Scheme’, was started on 22^nd January this year.

The scheme was initiated by th central government to encourage the saving system for young girl children. So far, 11 Lakh accounts have been opened in Tamil Nadu alone!

Though the scheme was meant for girls under 10 years of age, a concession was recently offered by the central government extending the age limit to be below 12 years.

As per this, girls born between 3^rd December 2003 & 2^nd December, 2005 can also join this ‘Selvamagal’ Savings Scheme. However, this concession closes on 12^th December.

As only a week is left, public are reminded and requested to avail this great opportunity.
