‘My Stamp’ an initiative by India Post will come to Vellore. The facility, which has already been launched in Uttar Pradesh, Maharashtra, Gujarat and Bihar, will allow the sender’s face to be the part of the stamp – the other part being the currency.
India Post has launched this option to target the youth who do not write letters any more. With electronic media being the chief mode of communication, the organization hopes to increase its dwindling customer base. The sender may also choose a variety of backgrounds that include trains, wildlife, the Taj Mahal, zodiac signs and Panchatantra tales.
The sender may submit his or her photograph at no extra cost and will receive a set of 12 stamps post police verification.
