The practice 3-day cricket match between Indian & Sri Lankan Presidents’ teams is scheduled to start today, Thursday, 6th August at Colombo.
Indian Cricket Team, captained by Virat Kohli, is touring Sri Lanka and will play 3 tests. The1st test will start on12th August at Galle.
Before the start of the test series, Indian team will play a practice match. This will be between Indian & Sri Lankan Presidents’Elevens. This is set to start today (6th August) at Colombo Premadasa Stadium.
This is considered by the Indian players as the avenue for preparing for the test matches ahead. Doubts exist about inclusion in the test eleven for batsman Lokesh Rahul, pace bowler Varun Aaron, and spinner Amit Mishra. If they perform well in this practice match, they can improve their chances.
Skipper Virat Kohli has a good opportunity to arrive at the best batting/bowling combinations for the tests ahead.
Sri Lankan team is led by Laru Thirmanne. International cricketers Upul Tharanga, Kaushal D’Silva, Kusal Perera, Laru Gamage, and Sachit Pathirane are included in the team. Hence this match would be a tough contest.
However, the match can be played only if there are no rains. Indian players could only do indoor net practice yesterday (Wednesday, 5th August) as it rained throughout.
Meteorological centre has forecast rains with thunder for the next 3 days! The match is set to start at 10.00 AM.
