A consultation/suggestion meeting was held under the leadership of the regional Transport Officer Prasanna when it was informed that pre-paid autos will be introduced in Vellore in 3 months.
A meeting was conducted about the introduction of pre-paid autos in Vellore at the private hall in Sathvachary.
The meeting was presided by the regional transport officer, Mr. Prasanna.
Local officials from various departments including police, educational institutions, etc participated.
Mr. Prasanna explained the system of pre-paid currently operating in Chennai, Bengaluru, Coimbatore, and Thiruvananthapuram. He also explained the scheme for bringing it in Vellore and its benefits.
Pre-paid autos are to be introduced in Vellore in another 3 months.
4 Notice Boards/placards will be set up to display this news at different places in the city.
In order to employ pre-paid autos, employees should be on 24-hour duty in every booth.
Space for the service booth as well as parking the autos must be provided by CMC Hospital, Katpadi Railway Station, and New Bus Terminus.
Booths should be provided with electricity & telephone connections.
Service tax will be included for each trip from which the salary will be paid to the employees in pre-paid auto system.
Service organisations & employee unions should participate whole-heartedly in this scheme to make it a success.
For the creation of pre-paid auto scheme, members should be nominated from police department, City Corporation, State transport corporation, and all auto drivers’ unions.
After this explanation, individual participant’s opinion was sought.
All senior officials from the relevant departments participated.
