The political party, PMK, has stressed the demand to ban quarrying in the river Palaru as any further quarrying will deprive the local people residing in the villages of Vallimedu & Kudimallur of drinking water.
A resolution was passed to this effect in the PMK party meeting on Sunday, 15th March, at Wallajapettai.
Other resolutions passed included the demonstration against the Pollution Control Board which has taken no action on effluent water mixing with the main sources of drinking water.
All local senior PMK party officials participated.
