Tamil Nadu food minister R Kamaraj mentioned that the AIADMK government has issued ration cards to 8.82 lakh families after it assumed charge in May 2011.An official release, quoting the minister, said the authorities were directed to issue new cards within 60 days of receiving applications from the eligible families without any further delay. The civil supplies department conducts grievance redressal meetings on the second Saturday of every month.
