Release of Special Stamp of Dr. Abdul Kalam Reflecting his Versatility

The Prime Minister, Shri Narendra Modi releasing the commemorative postal stamps on the former President of India, Dr. A.P.J. On the occasion of his birth anniversary, special stamps and envelopes reflecting the versatility of former president Dr. Abdul Kalam were released on Thursday, 15th October.

 

 

Former president Dr. Abdul Kalam passed away on 27th July. The Postal Department of the government approved the release of 4 new stamps commemorating Dr. Abdul Kalam.

In special event organized on Thursday, 15th October, at Chennai Anna Salai Philately Bureau (Stamp Collection Centre), the new stamps were released by Mr. Charles Lobo, Chief of the Tamil Nadu Postal Circle. Chennai Regional Post Head Md. Mervin Alexander received the new stamps.

Mr. Charles Lobo interacted with the press reporters. These new special stamps were released at the Philately Bureaus in Coimbatore, Trchy, Madurai, and Ooty on the same day.

He told that a special sealed envelope was released at Rameswaram, the birth place of Dr. Abdul Kalam.

Mr. Mervin Alexander explained that stamps valued at Rs. 5/- were released which reflect the versatility of Dr. Abdul Kalam. 6 Lakh stamps have been printed at Hyderabad Security Press.

The stamps, printed in multi-colours, are available for sales at the Philately Bureau and all main Post Offices.
