Taking road safety message to school students

studentThe Regional Transport Officer, Vellore, Pon. Senthilnathan, has advised school students to practise showing signals (while turning right and left, slowing and stopping) correctly while riding bicycles so that they would get into the habit of showing correct signals while riding two-wheelers later in their lives.

Participating in a road safety seminar organised by the Rotary Club of Vellore Mid Town and Bharath Amma Social Service Organisation (BASSO) here on Wednesday, Mr. Senthilnathan also urged the students to avoid footboard travel, and be careful while crossing roads.

He told them to administer first aid to those who might be injured in accidents if they were familiar with it, or call persons who could help the victims.

The RTO distributed scientific equipment worth Rs. two lakh on behalf of the Rotary Club to St. Mary’s Higher Secondary School, Vellore, and S.K. Masilamani Mudaliar Higher Secondary School, Kaspa, Vellore.

The scientific equipment was sponsored by Kalaiazhagan and Shankar. ‘Dato’ N. Muneandy, industrialist from Kuala Lumpur, said that enforcement of traffic rules was very strict in Malaysia where a vehicle user would get a summons if he or she violated rules.
