It is an annual tradition in Tamil Nadu to celebrate the festivals of Audha Poojai & Saraswathi Poojai at the end of the ‘nine sacred nights’ or ‘Navaratri’ in a grand style.
With only one day to go for the festival of Saraswathi Poojai, the sales of the associated pooja items have picked up more than usual.
With Ayudha Pooja being celebrated on Wednesday, 21st October, the flower market in Coimbatore was full of people jostling to buy the pooja items.
A bag of puffed rice, which was sold at Rs. 500/- per bag, is being sold this year at Rs. 600/- to Rs. 650/-.
The rates for the fruits – retail sales of apple was at Rs. 100/- to Rs. 120/-. Per kg. Orange was sold at Rs. 40/- to Rs. 50/-. Sweet lime was sold at Rs. 40/- to Rs. 50/-. Black grapes (from outside the state) was sold at Rs. 80/-. Grapes was sold at Rs. 60/-. Guava was sold at Rs. 60/-. Banana was sold at Rs. 30/- to Rs. 40/- for a bunch.
