B.Tech students K.Dinesh Kumar and Jagan Mohan of the VIT were awarded the first place for their smart wheelchair invention. The smart wheelchair designed especially for the physically challenged can be controlled through voice commands and is quite economical.
The two students were into speech-recognition research when they chanced upon the National Level Design Hardware Content and decided to enroll.
The final was conducted in Bangalore in the presence of numerous academicians. Thanking their college and professors, the winners also spoke of their future plan to create a real time model with the prize money.
