South India Weight-lifting Competition – Gudiyatham sportsmen shine!

The sportsmen from Gudiyatham won several prizes including ‘South India’s Iron Man’ in the recent weight-lifting competition at South India level.

The competition at South India level was conducted between 27^th February & 1^st March at Vijayawada, Andhra Pradesh.

4 sportsdmen from Seevur, near Gudiyatham represented Tamil Nadu in this competition.

Mr C Murthy lifted 700 kg and won the 1^st prize in the 83 kg weight group.He also won the award, ‘South India Iron Man’ by lifting 175 kg weight in the bench-press event.

Mr. S Durai lifted 620 kg and won the 1^st prize in the 66 kg group.

R Vinod lifted 607 kg and won the 2^nd place in the 74 kg group.

S Arun lifted 602 kg and won the 3^rd place in the 74 kg group.

S durai lifted 145 kg and won the 1^st place in the Bench-press competition.

All senior local officials in the sports arena felicitated the winners!
