Sudden drop in fish prices in Vellore!

Vellore has a fish market.

Fish are brought here for sales from Chennai, Mangalore, and Thiruvananthapuram in tricuks.

In this scenario, the ban period for fishing has started in Tamil Nadu.

As most of the fishermen could not go fishing, there is an abrupt in the quantity of fish reaching Vellore. The prices of fish were higher last week in Vellore.

However, there is a sudden in increase in the quantity of fish arriving from the state of Kerala. So, the price of fish has reduced considerably.

Vanjiram (salmon) fish which was sold at Rs. 500/- per kg last week is now sold at Rs. 300/- per  kg.

Sankara fish which was sold at Rs. 180/- per kg is now sold at Rs. 140/- per kg.

Crab, which was sold at Rs. 200/- per kg, is now sold at Rs. 120/- per kg.

Prawn, which was sold at Rs. 350/- per kg, is now sold at Rs. 220/-.

‘Ayila’ fish, which was sold at Rs. 180/- per kg, is now sold at Rs. 100/-.

Mathi fish, which was sold at Rs. 80/- per kg, is now sold at Rs. Rs. 40/-.

Viral fish, which was sold at Rs. Rs. 300/- per kg, is now sold at Rs. 220/-.

As the prices of fish were down, there were more buyers in the market. People who relish fish are happy at this development!
