It was oppressively hot on Friday (24th April) at Vellore during the forenoon & afternoon. There was a sudden gathering of clouds during the evening and heavy rains started and lasted for an hour!
Asit rained heavily with lighting & thunder, power got cut in several places.
The canals of Kanaru in Veloore city were flooded with water.
All important roads in the city and the approach road to the National Highway had stagnant water affecting the traffic.
On the other side, the rain brought down the temperature and chill winds were blowing. .A temperature of 100.7 degrees was registered on Friday.
It rained heavily with thunder & lightning at Ambur as well. However, the morning weather was oppressively hot with hot winds blowing across. Sudenly, dark clouds started gathering at 3.30 PM and it started raining heavily for an hour with thunder & lightning.
There were light showers at Gudiyatham. Pernampattu, and surrounding villages.
