Up gradation of 100 veterinary branch centres as dispensaries with modern facilities were ordered by Tamilnadu Chief Minister J Jayalalithaa. She has sanctioned Rs 6.93 crore for the purpose.
To improve the milk yielding capacity of the cows, she has ordered to improve infrastructure facilities at frozen semen bull station in Ooty, at a cost of Rs 6.45 crore.Also, she has ordered to set up 250 subsidized dry fodder sales centres across the State to help farmers to get fodder for their cattle at low price. The Chief Minister has allocated Rs 12.50 crore for the purpose (Rs five lakh per centre). In total, the Chief Minister today allocated Rs 25 crore for the above initiatives.
A total of seven districts was planned to be covered under the scheme where the government would give financial assistance of Rs 20.31 crore for farmers in these districts to set up farms with a capacity of 1,000-5,000. As many as 230 poultry farms were planned to be set up in each of the districts. Also, she announced Rs 2.40 crore for setting up poultry units in 16 districts.
