Tamil Nadu state government has submitted the proposal for the various projects for the 12 smart cities in Tamil Nadu as selected by the central government to the ministry of Central City development department.
The central government had set the deadline before 15th December for the states to submit their detailed project proposals for the 90 smart cities already selected throughout the country.
However, the government of Tamil Nadu ad requested for time extension for this deadline as the state was affected drastically by the recent incessant heavy rains and floods. Subsequently, the various detailed project proposals for 12 smart cities for Tamil Nadu covering Chennai, Trichy, Thriunelveli, Madurai, Thanjavur, etc was submitted on Monday, 29th Decmeber to the central ministry of Urban development.
So far, the proposals for 97 smart cities (including 12 smart cities in Tamil Nadu state) project proposals have been submitted.
