Vellore district collector Mr. R. Nandhagopal inaugurated the special latest TB (tuberculosis) testing equipment procured at a cost of Rs. 17.5 Lakhs at the TB department of Vellore Bentland Government Hospital.
On the occasion of the World TB Day and the inauguration of the latest equipment, the district collector informed that the reformed National TB Act has been implemented in Vellore district from 2001.
The percentage of people cured of TB at national level is 85%.
In Vellore district this is 87%.
Special equipment is required to detect EmatR type TB which has now been provided by the central government to this hospital.
The equipment will help detect attack of TB in a patient within 2 hours.
Senior local medical college & hospital officials participated.
