In an interview, Sania Mirza, who recently became the No #1 in the World in Tennis doubles, has expressed her desire to accomplish even more. Here is her account:
I love playing tennis. I love training for playing tennis as well. I enjoy participating in competitions. I will keep playing tennis till I feel enough. I have a lot more to accomplish. I would not be satisfied with 1 or 2 victories.
Tennis Champion Roger Federer continues playing. Other players should follow him. Plenty of important tournaments are lined up shortly. I want win a few more Grand Slam titles before retiring from tennis.
The most important events in my life include when I married in 2010 and then when I decided to give up singles and decided to focus on only doubles matches.
I felt that my tennis life was as good as over when I got married. I had wrist injury as well when I could not even comb my hair. Then only, I decided to marry. I discussed with my husband rearding resuming playing. He encouraged. I played in the subsequent Wimbledon championship and won 2 rounds. The wrist injury got healed miraculously. I feel that it is one of the right decisions I had taken in my life.
The second decision was to change over only to doubles matches. It was a difficult decision. I had undergone a surgery. I realised that I could not become No 1 if continue playing singles. This was the time I decided to give up playing singles and focus only on doubles.
