Chief Medical Officer, Dr. Noor Sayyeed of Ambur Government Hospital, has appealed to the public to have treatment for swine-flu only in government hospitals.
He explained to the press reporters during a session on Sunday, 22ndMarch:
Complaints have been received that sham (unqualified) doctors were giving treatment for swine-flu in Ambur. Even if the sham doctor had prepared his/her own medicine, it should be administered only after obtaining government approval.
Necessary actions will be taken on this. Public should be careful not to approach sham doctors. They can straightaway come to the government hospital for treatment.
Ambur has set up a separate swine-flu ward in the government hospital. 2 doctors and 2 nurses have been attached to this ward. There are sufficient stocks of medicine in the hospital for swine-flu.
Ambur City Aministration Collector, Ms. S. Sasikala, an enquiry has been conducted on the sham doctor. He has been instructed not to distribute any medicines.
