The Wellcome Trust Research Laboratory (WTRL), in the Division of Gastrointestinal Sciences at the Christian Medical College (CMC), Vellore, is a leading clinical and public health research laboratory applying innovative approaches with state of the art technology to understand and solve problems related to gastrointestinal infection and function. The WTRL has been conducting studies on the epidemiology of diarrheal diseases for over 50 years and has an established international reputation. We are unique in having a combination of very successful field teams, which conduct community based research, backed by a strong and rapidly growing molecular and immunology laboratory.
