The central jail for men is located at Thorappadi, Vellore.
Under the PM’s scheme of ‘Clean India;, and based on the oder from Mr. Tripathi, Chief of Prisons department, a project to clean the Vellore old government hospital, Adukkamparai government hospital, and some other important places has been in progress.
Accordingly. 22 life-convicts, accredited for good behaviour, were deployed to clean Vellore Old Government Hospital yesterday (Wednesday, 29th April).
Under the supervision of Central Jail DIG Mohammad Hanifa, and the led by Supervisor Karupannan, the convicts started cleaning the wards in the new complex.
Other senior police officials participated.
