The colourfully and attractively designed park constructed in the Vellore District Collector’ds Office Complex was closed several months ago. Because of this visitors and petitioners who come to the office do not find a place for waiting & relaxing.
Vellore District Collector Office Complex is located in Sathuvachary.
It is in a large building named ‘C P Sitrarasu Maligai’ and functions in 2 office blocks, A & B.
Public Relations Office, Office of the Adi Dravida Development, Collector’s Office, Deputy Collector’s Office, Office of the Backward Community Development, Office of the Joint Director for Health, Office of the Planning Director, Office of the Primary education Office3r, and Treasury are all functioning here.
Large number of people visit these offices to met the officials in person and inform regardinh their complaints.
Customer grievance meetings are conducted on all Monday at the Collector’s Office.
Land-ownership Patta or deed, Old Age Financial Assistance, Differently-abled people financial assistance, issues regarding ration cards, etc are the issues for which people keep visiting here from throughout Vellore District.
Will the park be opened?

There is a very attractive park in this complex catching the eyes of the visitors. A colourful water-fountain is the main feature of attraction. This park was renovated at a cost of Rs. 3 Crores. The park was closed several months ago. It is yet to be opened.
Hundreds of people keep visiting this place from different parts of the district. They have to wait for some period before meeting the concerned officials. The park was ideal for them to relax. However, as the park remains closed now, the visitors do not have any place to sit or wait.
Hence, the public has put up a request to reopen the park immediately.
Officials inform that incidents like self-immolations, etc keep happening in the park. The park has been closed to prvent such incidents.
In response, the public has suggested that 2 security men may be posted in the park to prevent such incidents and also to monitor & maintain the park,. Keeping the park closed is not all the right option.
Health Section
Health Centres separate for men & women have been set up in the Qaide Millat Community Hall for the benefit of the public who attend the grievance meetings. This is kept open only on Mondays. They remain closed for the rest of the week. Women, senior citizens, and differently-abled persons who visit the community Hall face extreme hardships due to the lack of the health facility. They end up using the nearby shrubbery as an open toilet leading to foul smell in the area.
Public visiting the government officials are thus put to great hardship. The officers & staff have the toilet facility inside their office. However, the external vistors have no such facility.
Demand
There is a narrow path between the backside of the collector’s office leading to the office of the District Police Superintendent. Many government officials and police use this path. However, the areas by the side of the path are being used as open toilet leading to foul smell. However, the government officials and the police have chosen to ignore this!
Hence the public have put up a demand that the health complex should be kept open daily!
