The event of distributing admission orders for B Tech course in VIT University to 56 government school students under ‘STARS’ scheme was conducted. VIT Chancellor4, Mr. Viswanathan, presided over the occasion and distributed the admission orders and then addressed the gathering.
He mentioned that if the students pursue their professions with control & discipline, they will definitely succeed in their lives.
2.02 Lakh candidates wrote the entrance examination to join VIT University engineering B Tech courses. Counselling for the successful candidates has been completed and the classes are about to start.
Over 3000 students have joined Vellore Centre and over 1000 students have joined Chennai Centre.
Only those who were successful in the written tests have joined thus. As you have studied hard in your school, you are offered free education, lodging, and boarding under the ‘STARS’ scheme.
Education is one of the most significant aspects of a country. The faculty giving this education are even more important. If you succeed in your life, you will elevate yourself and your family in society. Ultimately, society will also benefit. Hence, country will also advance.
The students studying here should develop their proficiency in English and general knowledge. You should devote sufficient time to concentrate on studies. Cell-phones & cinema will divert your attention. You should not lose your focus on studies and not end up wasting your time. Your only aim should be your studies. It may be difficult in the early stages. Still, you should not change your minds from this aim.
Make it a point to study every day. Syllabus has been changed accordingly to facilitate every day study. Self-control & self-discipline and hard work are the 2 most important aspects in student’s life.
When you perform well academically, t you will succeed in your life.

It is not language, caste, or wealth that has brought all of you here. Only education has brought all of you, students, from 32 districts. Just like the fish caught, education will never go waste. When tsunami destroyed everything, it could not destroy one’s education.
Only because you had studied well at school, we have come all the way to you and offered this free education. You have to study hard. The 2 most important days in one’s life is the birthday and the other is the day when you identify and prove yourself.
Take our ex-president Abdul Kalam. He did not seek that post but the post sought him. He also studied in a government school only. Even our chancellor Mr. Viswantathn studied in a government school walking all the way to school from his village.
MGR brought the ‘mid-day’ meal scheme as he could fully appreciate the importance of timely provision of food. Similar;y, our chancellor is aware of the merits of good education as he studied with hardships. He has brought the STARS scheme.
There are students who speak 40 different languages in VIT University.You can perceive the world itself. You won’t forget cycling & swimming once you learn the. Similarly, the education learnt will never be forgotten. Do not attempt any short-cuts to succeed in life – adopt the straight route & succeed!
