Police arrests a boy responsible for making hoax bomb-scare call at Collectorate office, Vellore!

Police nabbed an 18-year-old boy for making a call threatening to plant a bomb at the district Collectorate on Monday.Police said the boy was a resident of V.C. Mottur of Walajah and was working at a leather company.

He had come to Vellore on Sunday and had made the call to the 108 ambulance service’s Emergency Response Call Centre in Chennai at about 11.50 a.m. He had told the call centre that he will plant a bomb at the Vellore Collectorate.

During enquiry, he told police that he made the call under the influence of alcohol. P.K. Senthil Kumari, SP, Vellore said they traced the boy through the cell phone tower signal location.

Eye-screening tests for ‘108’ Ambulance Service Personnel conducted!

Dr Ida Social Service Trust and Puducherry Aravind Eye Hospital organised an eye-screening camp for around 100 staff of the ‘108’ ambulance service in Vellore district on Sunday.

The ambulance pilots and emergency medical technicians were also felicitated for the services rendered in the district.

Additional sheet-fixing in ration cards commenced at Vellore district!

The task of fixing additional sheets meant for the year 2015 in the ration cards in Vellore District commenced yesterday.The state government had ordered the fixing of additional sheets in the existing rations cards meant for next year’s (January to December, 2015) purchases thus extending the life of the existing ration cards by 1 year.

Education Minister visits women college students taken ill after dinner!

Higher Education Minister P. Palaniappan on Monday visited the students of Arignar Anna Government Arts College for Women, Walajapet. The students had fallen ill after having dinner in the hostel on Sunday.Nearly 70 women complained of vomiting and dizziness after they reportedly saw a lizard’s tail in the food.
