A total of 70 lakh children aged below five years were being covered in the first round of the campaign in Tamil Nadu. Of this, 50 lakh children were in rural areas and 20 lakh children in urban areas, Health Minister V. S. Vijay said during the inauguration of the campaign.
Dr. Vijay said that 40,399 booths – 35,793 in rural areas and 4,606 in urban areas – had been set up across the State. A total of 1,013 transit booths were set up at bus stands, railway stations and airports, while there were 771 mobile teams to reach to children living on hills and areas having less transport connectivity.
