Mathrubhumi Group to launch news channel on January 23

logosMathrubhumi Group is  ready to mark its foray into the Indian television business with Mathrubhumi News and Kappa TV. The News will be launched on January 23, Kappa TV, a music channel, will set foot into the broadcasting space on February 1.

620 litres of adulterated milk seized in surprise check

milkM.S. Sampath Kumar, District Designated Officer, Food Safety Wing, Department of Food Safety and Drug Administration, Vellore, said they conducted surprise checks with private milk selling vendors near the Old Bus Terminus, New Bus Terminus and other areas in Vellore Corporation limit and found 620 litres of milk adulterated with water.

NSS students take out rally on polio awareness

campA total of 70 lakh children aged below five years were being covered in the first round of the campaign in Tamil Nadu. Of this, 50 lakh children were in rural areas and 20 lakh children in urban areas, Health Minister V. S. Vijay said during the inauguration of the campaign.

Dr. Vijay said that 40,399 booths – 35,793 in rural areas and 4,606 in urban areas – had been set up across the State. A total of 1,013 transit booths were set up at bus stands, railway stations and airports, while there were 771 mobile teams to reach to children living on hills and areas having less transport connectivity.
