This item was created by Mr. Paramasivam from Kanchipuram as a tribute to the late president Dr. Abdul Kalam.

1931 silk threads have been used to signify the year of birth of Dr. Abdul Kalam. 2015 pure zari threads have been used to signify theyear Dr. Abdul Kalam passed away. The gown is of 2.75’ length & 1.75’ height.

The design work was done by weavers Mr. Saravanan & Mr. Devaraj from Ayyampettai.

Mr. Paramasivam handed over this gown to Dr. Abdul Kalam’s brother Mr. Muthu Maraikkair yesterday (Friday, 2nd October) at Rameswaram. Dr. Kalam’s nephew Nijamudeen and grandson Avus Meera were also present.

Mr. Paramasivam informed that his sons Monish & Anish were born on the same day as Dr. Abdul Kalam, 15th October. Hence, as an avenue to pay my tribute to the late president, I created this gown carrying Dr. Kalam’s portrait with Kanchipuram silk & zari. I handed over the 1st gown to Dr. kalam’s brother on Friday. I have planned to make 28 more silk & zari gowns with Dr. Kalam’s portrait.
