In connection with the establishment of a Brown Field Electronic Manufacturing Cluster (EMC) in Vellore district, a stakeholder consultation meeting will be organised at the VIT University on December 20.
Brown Field EMC is a cluster of existing electronics manufacturing units located in different parts of a district. The establishment of EMCs is aimed at the growth of Electronics Systems Design and Manufacturing ((ESDM) sector and help development of entrepreneurial eco-system, drive innovation and catalyze economic growth of the region by increasing employment opportunities and tax revenues.
EMCs’ scheme supports grant assistance for setting up of both Greenfield EMCs (cluster of new units located within the same industrial estate) and Brownfield EMCs.
For Greenfield EMCs, the assistance is 50 per cent of the project cost, subject to a ceiling of Rs.50 crores for every 100 acres of land, and for Brownfield EMCs, the assistance is up to 75 per cent of the project cost subject to a ceiling of Rs.50 crores.
The stakeholders’ consultation meeting is being organised to apprise industries and potential investors in the region.
