Vellore Corporation officials removed all the encroachments in the New Vellore Bus Terminus yesterday (Friday, 27th March). There was a minor commotion in the area.
More than 500 buses operate from the new Vellore Bus terminus to Chennai, Salem, Thiruvannamalai, Thirupathur, Bangalore, and other cities. Hence the terminus is always remains crowded and active.
In this situation, a number of flower & fruit shops have sprung up in the terminus occupying the pavement space as well blocking the movement of the buses & passenge4rs.
Series of complaints was received by the Vellore corporation on this issue. Commissioner Ms. Janaki ordered to remove these encroachments.
A squad led by the Corporation Engineer, Mr. Balasubramanian entered the new bus terminus and started removal of all encroached spaces yesterday, 27th March. Shops occupying the paths and advertisement banners were all removed.
Even the shops w in the terminus rented out by the corporation had placed furniture and other things outside the shop blocking the movement of the passengers. These were removed.
The team, with the participation of local senior officials, managed to remove the encroachments in minimum time.
The corporation’s officials informed that removal of encroachments will continue. Hence, the offenders should take immediate action to remove the encroachments. Otherwise, they will be removed forcibly.
