Ex-DIG requests retired jail personnel to help jail workers!

prison1Ex- DIG, Mr. Munivelu, requested that the retired jail personnel should come forward to help the present jail workers.

The 3rd year inaugural function of the retired Jail Employees’ Association was conducted yesterday (Thursday, 28th May) at Thorappadi, Vellore.

District president Mr. Devaraj presided over the function.

Other related senior officials of different departments participated.

Ex DIGs, Mr. Munivelu & Mr. Ramachandran, were the Chief Guests.

While addressing the gathering, Mr. Munivelu told that Vellore was the starting point for the independence struggle and Sepoy Mutiny . We have followed the 3 principles of duty, Dignity, & Discipline.

In this noble profession, we had the experience seeing good as well as bad people. Our retired Jail personnel should come forward to help the present jail employees. We have to cooperate for everyone’s well-being.

Chances of promotion have become scarce now as IPS cadre people are appointed direct.

 

Resolutions passed in the meeting:

 

Identity card for medical insurance should be expedited and distributed.

ü  Retired Jail employees should be given concession in government buses.

ü  Medical allowance must be raised from Rs. 100/- to Rs. 300/-.

ü  Additional pension based on age should be given as practised in Punjab.

ü  Many items should be arranged for subsidised prices.

ü  Retired jail personnel should be employed in Jail Bazaars run by the department of prison.

Annual special edition of the Association was released.

Awards were given to retired DIGs Munivelu & Ramachandran.

Retired jail personnel from several districts participated on the occasion.
