During the zonal meeting of Vellore Corporation, a councillor made a complaint that private schools have encraoshed the spaces in the public park in Corporation Zone-1.
Vellore Corporation’s 1st zonal meeting was conducted at Taraadavet. President Mr. Sunil Kumar presided.
Observations from councillors:
S. Raja à Cauvery drinking water scheme has been implemented in Vellore. However, 5 wards in Vellore Corporation Zone-1 have not got the water supply yet. This must be expedited.
President à I consulted with the officials. Action will be taken to provide drinking water facility.
K P Ramesh à Private Schools have encroached the public park spaces in zone-1. Action must be taken to remove the encroachment.
President à Only one park in zone-1 has been entrusted to a private agency for maintenance. Any encroachment will be checked and action will be taken.
Sugenbdran à Street lights are not burning in 20 streets in my ward. Action must be taken to restore.
President à A ward-wise list has been prepared to repair all street lights. Action is in progress. Street lights will be restored.
Vijayalakshmi à A ‘’bidding’ was conducted to install a street light in my ward 1 year ago, There has been no action yet.
Zonal officer à Street light maintenance has been entrusted to a private agency. They will be informed and action will be taken to install a light fitting.
Anbu à There is no water in Rajiv Gandhhi Nagar. People have been suffering over the last 20 days. The deep-bore well motor has been stolen. Dog menace is also on the rise. I also request that a small bridge to be constructed in my ward.
K B Rameah à A small bridge in my ward is damaged. It must be repaired.
Chamundeeswari à Sewage drain canals are not available in my ward. Same should be set up.

Selvi à The street lights in my ward are switched on only after 7.30 PM. There are no switches for these lamps.
President à Street light maintenance has been entrusted to a private agency. They will be informed and action will be taken.
Resolutions were passed including implementation of the projects of cement road paving, sewage canals setting, small bridge, and rain-water drain systems in zone-1 was passed.
