On Tuesday, Assured Maximum Service to Marginal People in All Villages (AMMA), a new grievance redressal programme launched in Vellore district.In Vettuvanam village, one of the venues, large number of people arrived with petitions in hand.
Shylaja, a housewife, said there was only one ration card for four families of her husband’s siblings. Two of the families moved out of the village and lived elsewhere. Families of remaining two sibling’s living in the village including hers were using the ration cards for alternate months to buy rations.She came there to find a solution to the stalemate and find out how to get new ration card.
Jothi was there to submit a petition seeking inclusion of her six year old daughter’s name in the ration card of their family. Asked taken six years for her, she said “We will have to go all the way to the taluk office in Vellore.
Collector said, Immediate field enquiries on a host of petitions and took decisions accepting several pleas regarding ration card deletion, addition and correction etc.
