The Director of Chennai Metro City Meteorological Centre, Mr. Ramanan, informed that a new low pressure zone has formed in southwest Bay of Bengal near Sri Lanka.
While talking to the press reporters, Mr. Ramanan informed about this. He informed that this low pressure can lead to wide-spread rains in several places in Tamil Nadu & Pudhucherry. The rains will continue for another 24 hours in Tamil Nadu & Pudhucherry.
He told that there will be heavy rains in the coastal districts and light rain in the interior districts of Tamil Nadu.
As for Chennai Metro City, the sky will remain cloudy and there are prospects of rain in a few places in the city.
Mr. Ramanan told the rains will abate gradually in the next 48 hours.
