The grand chithirai festival was commenced with divine flag-hoisting ceremony on Thursday, 23rd April at the famous Thakkolam Sri Jalanadeswarar with His Consort Sri Kannikambal.
This famous temple is the 12th of the 32 scared places of ‘Thondai Nadu’ and also celebrated as the 3rd of the temple of Guru Bhagavan.
Chithirai festival is an annual grand affair celebrated with lots of spirit & enthusiasm.
Current year’s Chithirai Brahmotsavam festival started on Thursday, 23rd April morning with divine flag-hoisting ceremony.
In the evening, the main deity Sri Jalanadeeswarar along with His Consort Kannikambal offered Darshan & procession for the devotees on the carriage of sacred bull (Rishabha vahanam).
On Firday, 24th April, the procession of the main deities on the carriage of sacred lion (Simha Vahanam) was performed.
On Saturday, procession ofr the main deities in the carriages of Surya & Chandra (Suryaprabhai & Chandraprabhai) will be performed.
On Sunday, the procession fo the main deities on the carriages of sacred snake (Naga vahanam) and 10-headed Ravaneshara vahanam will be performed.
ON Wedneday, procession of the main deities on divine chariot is scheduled. The activities of decorating & adorning the chariot have started.
With ‘Nalvar Utsavam’ scheduled on 4th May, the festival draws to a close.
The temple administration senior officials are organising this grand festival.
