By the end of the May month, the Southern Railway is planning to inaugurate the Integrated Security System (ISS) in three further railway junctions…In addition to the integrated observation cameras, the ISS consists of luggage scanners, under-vehicle scanners, parcel scanners, hand-held metal detectors and doorframe metal detectors. Contrast to other still cameras, the ISS has 360 degree observation (zoom capacity) cameras.
This project of mounting up the ISS system at three railway junctions has been planned at a cost of Rs. 25 Crores.Junctions at the areas including Kollam, Thirunelveli, Thrissur, Dindigul, Arakkonam and Katpadi have been well outfitted with the Closed Circuit Television (CCT) Cameras.ISS installation works is nearing its finishing point in junctions at Mangalore, Ernakulum and Thiruvananthapuram and is expected to complete by the end of the May month, says S.
