The team of Chennai Metro Rail Officials has undertaken to do the project study for 3 more routes. So far, they have completed the study up to 60 km.
They have decided to set up railway stations at 85 places across these routes.
Currently, Chennai Metro Rail is working on 2 routes in the city covering a distance of 45 km. 60% of the overall project has been completed.
Metro Rail project authorities have planned to complete the entire project before 2017 and the work is in progress accordingly.
In this scenario, project studies have been taken up to set up Metro Rail in 3 more routes.
These will be – Madhavaram to Siruseri, Madhavaram to Sholinganallur, and Nerkundram to Vivekananda House via Koyambedu – and will cover a total distance of 90 km.
