The central government has decided to cancel the subsidy on LPG cooking gas cylinders for all customers who have annula incomes exceeding Rs. 10 Lakhs.
Currently, all customers are entitles to get 12 LPG cooking Gas cyllinders per year.
If more than 12 cylinders are required, this has to be bought only at non-subsidised prices.
The central Minister for Petroleum, Mr. Dharmendra Pradhan has commented on this in his Twitter page:
The central government has decided to cancel the subsidy on LPG cooking cylinders for the customers who get an annual income exceeding Rs. 10 Lakhs.
This deicion has been takne as per the policy decision of the central government that the subsidies are primarily meant only for poorer secrtions of the society.
Recently, Prime Minister Mr. Narendra Modi has emphasised that all MPs. MLAs, IAS & IPS Officers, Company Proprietors, and all affluent persons to surrender their claims for subsidised LPG cooking gas cylinders.
These surrendered LPG cylinder from the above mentioned class of society, will be used for further distribution to the poorer sections of the society.
Campaigns are being conducted about this.
Subsequently, out of the existing 16 crores LPG consumers, about 50 Lakh customers have surrendered their subsidised LPG cylinders.
These cylinders would be especially used for distribution to the poorer sections of the society who use oak, kerosene & cow-dung for their cooking.
As per the latest price trend in the international market, the price difference between subsidised and non-subsidised LPG cooking gas cylinder has come down considerably.
