English is a major hurdle to students from rural backgrounds pursuing engineering education after completing Plus Two in Tamil medium.
Though most students manage to understand the technical subjects in college, they still were struggling to communicate effectively in English.
More than 60 Assistant Professors from 32 colleges in Zone-6 of Anna University participated. During the first day, V. Anitha Devi, assistant professor, English, School of Social Sciences, VIT University, handled the session. Prof. Revathy Viswanathan, Department of English, B.S. Abdur Rahman University, Chennai, dealt with writing skills.
