Vellore district collector Mr. R. Nandhagopal informed that names will be removed from the voters’ list only on showing the death certificate.
As per the Election Commission’s order, polling officers undertook visit house-to-house to streamline and correct all data in the voters’ list. This has been taken up in Vellore district from 25th March.
The data obtained from these surveys were used to make lists of persons without address, persons who went on transfer, persons who died, and persons who have registered twice.
These lists have been put up for public display in the Taluk offices and the office of the Assistant collector.
This is only a draft list and not the final. Further reviews and enquiries will be conducted again.
Only after verification of the death certificate and certificate for nomination of heirs from the dead person, the Form-7 meant for name removal from voter list will be obtained from the concerned family members and then the name will be removed.
Also, the decision regarding details regarding persons who are not staying in the given address and the persons who went on transfer etc will be taken up after the announcement from Election Commission.
For persons who have registered twice, form-7 will be obtained from the concerned and afer enquiry, action will be taken. So, there are absolutely no prospects of removal of names without any basis.
Election Commission has given sufficient time to carry out this correction activities. Hence, voters can approach the respective Taluk office or office of the Assistant Collector and make the required corrections.
