Dr. Chandy stressed the need for the BNESIB to launch a nurse practitioners programme in view of the need for nurse practitioners in every district. These practitioners would provide solutions to health problems in the country as they can provide health service in rural areas which doctors fail to do. “We need to develop nurse managers and nurse specialists in different areas of healthcare,” he said.
The CMAI, Dr. Chandy said, should develop an accreditation body whose approval should be made mandatory for the starting of any nursing school in the country.
