ISRO Head Mr. Kirankumar informed that the satellite ‘Mangalyan’ will be given extension of a few years to continue performing as the performance feedback so far has been satisfactory. India’s First Space research Satellite ‘AstroSat’ is set to be launched at 10.00 AM from Satish Dhawan Space Center, Sriharikota, Andhra State.
In order to participate on the occasion of launch, ISRO (india Space Research Organisation) Head Mr. Kirankumar arrived in Chennai from Bengaluru.
He had a chat with the press reporters at Chennai Airport:
50 Hours count-down has already commenced for launching the Astrosat satellite through PSSLV 30 Rocket. As per the schedule, the satellite will be launched at 10.00 AM today (Monday, 28th September),
Apart from Astrosat, 4 satellites of USA, 1 satellite each from Canada & Indonesia are also to be launched. Astrosat is launched for the study of ultra-violet rays and x-rays in the space. As the performance of the satellite Mangalyan sent for research on the planet Mars has been quite satisfactory, it has been decided to extend its services for a few more years.
4 more satellites one for commercial purposes and the other 3 for guidance are planned to be launched before next August.
