The elder son of the actor-cum-politician Vijaykanth, Mr. Vijaya Prabhakaran, has bought the Chennai Badminton Team. He has named this team ‘Chennai Smashers’.
The inaugural introductory even was organised yesterday (24th December, Thursday).
Mr. Vi9jaya Prabhakaran introduce the player os his team ‘Chennai Smashers’ during this event.
Mr. Vijaya Prabhakaran explained that badminton has been his most favourite sport/game right from a young age and this interest has resulted in him buying the Chennai Badminton Team.
He explained that this team is full of spirited young players and especially includes P V Sindhu, who represents India in international competitions and this is a definite strength.
Apart from this, the team includes Chikki Reddy, Jerry Chopra, and Krishna Priya and also 6more international players.
Actor/politician Vijaykanth’s younger son, Mr. Shanmugapandiyan will be the ambassador of the team. Mr. Vijaya Prabhakaran explained that Mr. Shanmuga pandiyan’s selection was not merely because he was a brother but as he has the requisite physical aspects for this sport.
He also explained the reasons for the selection of Lion’s Face as the logo for his team. He is an ardent fan and admirer of Chennai Super King’s Team in the IPL. As CSK is banned for 2 years, the same logo was chosen just as a token remembrance.
Mr. Vijaya Prabhakaran has also adopted the popular slogans/songs whichwere used for Chennai Super Kings Team – ‘Chennai Badminton Team-kku Smashers podu’.
The yellow-coloured Jerseys were also presented in the inaugural function.
As the Chennai Nehru Sports Stadium is being used for keeping Flood Relief Articles, the games could not be played there.
