The ‘Kumbhabishekham’ (sanctification) ceremony of the popular Rathnagiri Sri Balamurugan Temple is cheduled today – Monday, 29thJune.
A mammoth construction has been set up to perform special ‘Yagnam’ ((intensive Poojas/prayers with chanting of holy hymns) at the foot of the mountain.
In this specially constructed ‘Ygana mandapam;, various Poojas/prayers including ‘Kalasa sthapana poojai’, ‘Koo Poojai (prayers to the holy cow), ‘Gaja poojai’ (Poojai to holy elephant), Angurarpanam, Kumbalangaram, ‘Mudhal kala Yaga poojai’, etc were conducted on Friday, 26th June .
Following these special Poojas, ‘irandam kala poojai’, Purnahudhi, and Maha Deeparadhanai were performed day-before-yesterday, Saturday, 27th June in the morning. On the same day evening, ‘Moondram Kala yaga poojai’ was performed.
At 9.00 Am on Sunday, 28th June, ‘Nangam Kala Poojai’ was performed followed by Purnahudhi and maha deeparadhanai.
Earlier, a group of women led by Sri Balamurugan Adimai swamigal brought aromatic liquids to the temple premises in a procession.
20000 devotees who participated in these special poojais were given tree saplings. On J28th June, Sunday evening, ‘Aindham kala poojai’ was performed at 4.00 PM. Purnahudhi & deeparadhanai were performed at 7.00 PM.
The most important event of this occasion, ‘Kumbabishekham; is scheduled on Monday, 29th June (today). On this occasion, ‘Aaram kala poojai’ was performed at 4.00 AM, ‘and ‘Sparshahudhi’ & Naadi Santhanam’ were performed at 5.30 AM. After this, Purnahudhi and Deeparadhanai were performed at 6.15 AM.
At 7.00 AM, Maha Kumbabishekham was performed for the Lord Vinayaka & Sri Amman Temple at the foot of the mountain.
At 7.15 AM. The event of ‘Kadam purappaduthal’ was performed. At 9.15 AM, Maha Kumbabhishekham was performed on the ‘Raja Gopurams’ of the Lord Murugan & Lord Vinayaka Temples.
At 10.00 AM, Kumababishekham for the main deity of Lord balamurugan is to be performed.
A helicopter has been arranged bu the temple administration to facilitate the speinkling of the holy water on the devotees during the Kumbabishekham occasion.
All senior designated temple officials and swamis and people’s representatives participate.
Arrangements for the special occasion were made by the traditional temple trustee, Balamurugan Adimai Swamigal, Executive Officer Mr. Karthikeyan, managers, and the temple administration staff.
